Application of the Month: Microsoft Planner – Aldridge | IT Outsourcing
What is Microsoft Planner?
Microsoft Planner is a task management tool that allows work groups or departments to organize and assign tasks, track task progress and collaborate in one platform.
Microsoft Planner, a part of Office 365, works with Office 365’s other online services such as SharePoint and Teams.
Key Features
Organize your workload visually — Create a plan for your team, assign tasks and update their statuses in just a few clicks. Each plan in Microsoft Planner has its own board where you can organize your tasks into customizable buckets. You can filter tasks by their progress, due date or who they’re assigned to.
Planner also has a chart view that allows you see the status of all the tasks on your board at a glance, as well as a calendar view that gives insight into all the assignments due or deadlines missed in a given month.
Collaborate around your tasks — With Microsoft Planner, you can attach links and files to tasks directly from SharePoint, or discuss the tasks with your other team members without switching between applications. All of your team’s communication and attached documents stay within the plan so information isn’t lost or stored across several apps and devices.
Work on the go — You can use Planner any place you have an internet connection. Access your plans and tasks from your web browser or the Microsoft Planner mobile app.
How do I get Microsoft Planner?
If you’re an Office 365 customer, you may already have Microsoft Planner. Office 365 for business offers several subscription tiers that come with access to Planner and all of its features for no additional cost.
You can access Microsoft Planner by logging into your Office 365 account from your browser, or by downloading the mobile app and logging in with your account credentials. The Planner mobile app is available for both iOS and Android devices.
